A flaky fuel pump and some carburetor gasket issues made the drive quite eventful. This photo was taken by the roadside in Saskatchewan whilst performing a "spot of maintenance". Most cars driving by did stop to inquire as to my status - My response was polished and automatic by this time - "Thanks for stopping, but I'm OK. My car and I are having a bit of a disagreement. The idea of buying a beater to get home and sell in Ontario had been floating around in my head for quite some time, but finally the planets had aligned, and I had my chance. All I needed was a thousand dollar car that would make it home. Something... memorable.

Enter Le Crustillac. Crusty, or Yahk (more on that later), was born a white 1967 Cadillac Calais, with a 429 cubic inch (translation - freaking gigantic) gas guzzling V8 engine, automatic transmission, white faux leather interior, and a modest array of optional equipment. Over the course of the car's 39 year lifespan, someone had covered the entire car in a crust of goopy, nasty flat black paint/undercoating, flames, and had recovered the interior in green leopard print faux fur.

Perfect.

More later.
